Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin is to raise with the Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey concerns about the future of jobs of Social Security Agency staff based at Lisahally.
McLaughlin said, “On December the 3rd of last year I highlighted the concerns of staff at the Lisahally office, after we were told that up to 30 jobs could be lost as a result of moving records to a central location.
“I subsequently raised this is a question to the DSD Minister in December looking for clarity on the future of the Derry jobs and urged management at the Social Security Agency to engage with staff and trade unions to discuss their concerns about this.
“I have been contacted by worried workers over the weekend concerned they have had very little news on what the future holds for them and fears they could be out of a job in a couple of weeks’ time.
The workers need clarity and I will be raising this again with the Minister as a matter of urgency.
