Sinn Féin Chair of the Assembly’s Health Committee and Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin has said that the provision of care at The Cottages facility will continue over the Summer period.
She made her comments after continuing to lobby the Health Minister Jim Wells and the Western Trust (WHSCT)on the future of the centre.
The chair of the Assembly’s Health Committee Maeve McLaughlin said, “I felt it was very important to continue my lobbying and engagements with the Minister and the Trust on the future status of the Cottages.
“The Trust have now told me that they have been meeting with families on a case by case basis and will extend the bookings for the Cottages to cover summer holidays/needs.
“This will allow them time to consider further options as part of the respite review and they will engage further with families on this in due course.
