Two people were convicted at Derry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Neil Duddy (27) of Abbots Walk, Derry, claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £3,785 while failing to declare employment. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
Shane Quinn (26) of Windridge Drive, Derry, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £3,620 while failing to declare employment. He was given a 24 month conditional discharge.
Both men are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
