Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan has welcomed the news that a new play park is to be constructed at the Ballyarnett Country Park as part of £2.8million investment from the Executive’s Social Investment Fund and £300,000 from Derry City Council at four sites across the city.
Councillor Hassan said “I welcome the news that a new play park facility is to built in Ballyarnett Country Park.
The Ballyarnett Country Park can provide a wide range of opportunities and act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area.
This is one of best assets this city has but has been underutilised for many years .And I believe it has nowhere reached its full potential yet in providing parklands and facilities for residents in the local area and for the city as a whole.
It offers a real opportunity to build the foundation’s for the next 5-10 years and put in place something the entire community can be proud of.
