POLICE say two pipe bombs found in the Waterside were designed to kill.
One bomb was found in the front garden of a home in Trafalgar Court.
A second bomb was discovered at Jeffrey Avenue.
Army bomb experts were at the scene of both alerts, the third this week in the city following the Currynierin alert.
Area Commander for Derry, Chf Insp Tony Callaghan, said the bombs were potentially lethal.
“They were two viable devices which have now been recovered for forensic examination,” he said.
All cordons have been lifted.
“Residents who were evacuated earlier are now returning home. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their co-operation and understanding,” he added.
