FORECASTERS have issued a 2-day weather warning for high winds, snow, ice and lightning for the North West.
The Met Office warning applies from now until 3pm tomorrow, Tuesday.
Frequent sleet, snow and hail showers are expected on Monday and persisting well into Tuesday.
Over Northern Ireland accumulations of locally 1-3 cm are possible over low ground into Monday morning.
On ground above around 150-200 m locally 5-10 cm is likely, with accumulations of 10-20 cm over ground above around 300 m.
“Winds will be generally strong, with gusts of 60 mph or more likely at times, especially on coasts and hills,” said a Met Office spokesman.
“The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel and for hazardous driving conditions at times.”
Accumulating snow can be expected at low levels in places.
However, by day much of the snow at low levels will melt. Lightning could be an additional hazard.
The warning follows widespread snow showers over county Derry on Saturday.
