Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery of a shop in the Altcar Park area of Derry on Sunday, 22 February.
It was reported that around 4.30pm an unknown male carrying a metal bar entered the shop and demanded the member of staff open the till.
When they refused the male left empty handed. It is believed that two other accomplices waited outside the shop during the incident.
A 16 year old male was arrested a short time later and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector David McQuade is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
