SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins has welcomed the proposed plans for a retirement village in the former Thornhill College site.
Cllr Dobbins said: “The former Thornhill College site is in a peaceful, tranquil setting and the proposed plans for a retirement village to be developed here is very appropriate.
“The proposed plans to incorporate a palliative care facility with assisted and independent units for retired residents may be ambitious but will compliment this area.
“A retirement village is a model which is used throughout the country with long waiting lists of interested tenants. Retirement villages such as Elmgrove and Thorndale are a success story in the Ballyarnett ward and the plans for Thornhill will be a welcomed addition.”
