DERRY will be without Mark Lynch for its Football League Division 1 game against Tyrone on Saturday after the county failed to get his red card against Kerry overturned.
Croke Park’s Central Hearings Committee upheld Lynch’s dismissal last night.
He sustained his dismisall during the second half of the game which Kerry won by 1-17 to 0-13.
Derry will also be without experienced defender Gerard O’Kane.
O’Kane has opted out of the panel but is expected to return in a few weeks.
The Glenullin man is said to have cited his current work commitments for his decision but manager Brian McIver is hoping that O’Kane will return to the squad in the coming weeks.
Manager Brian McIver is optimistic that a number of players will be available for the Tyrone game after missing the opening defeats by Donegal and Kerry.
“The likes of Dermot McBride, Carlus McWilliams, Fergal Doherty and James Kielt. We are hoping they will be available to play some part on Saturday evening.”
