THE SDLP chair of Derry City Council’s Planning Committee councillor Angela Dobbins has welcomed approval for 1,600 new social homes in the city.
She said: “The approval of planning permission for 1,600 new homes for Derry is terrific news.
“The social housing deficit in Derry is a very real crisis.
“The largest development approved will see 1,400 new homes built at Skeoge and these will go some way to helping fill the gap in provision in the city.”
The new homes will also provide scores of jobs for workers in the city which will also help boost the economy.
