Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey has insisted on calling Derry City Council – the City Council of Londonderry.
The minister announced £400,000 for public realm works to St Columb’s Park in Derry yesterday.
But the official statement issued by the DUP man’s spin doctors went out of its way not to refer to Derry City Council.
“The project will be delivered by the Parks Development Service of the City Council of Londonderry,” said Storey.
Mayor Brenda Stevenson’s comments in the same press statement DID include her reference to Derry City Council.
But Minister Storey wasn’t finished – and got his version of the local authority name back in again.
His spokesman noted Mr Storey had “also visited Brooke Park to view the ongoing enhancement works recently commenced. The Department has invested £700,000 in this £5.8million project which is being delivered by the City Council of Londonderry.”
