DERRY almost took both points in their clash with Tyrone at a wet and windy Omagh this evening.
The Oak Leafers led going into injury time, but had to settle for a share of the spoils in the tough conditions as the game ended 0-11 to 1-08.
Darren McCurry rescued the draw for Tyrone with the last kick of the game, but it could and should have been both points for Brian McIver’s side.
Terence O’Brien fired Derry into a four point lead with a cracking goal eight minutes from the end but Niall Holly was sent off shortly afterwards for a second yellow card offence to give Tyrone the edge of an extra man.
Tyrone had led 0-04 to 0-03 at the break, Derry guilty of missing some easy scores, including one wondrous goal chance.
The point gets Derry off the mark in Division One, but there is little doubt now they face a hard relegation battle ahead.
