Foyle Valley AC Notes: After what was a very difficult week for the club, Foyle Valley athletes recorded fantastic times in races over the weekend.
Martina McMullan was first female over the line at Sundays SSE Airtricity 10k with an excellent time of 40:10, followed by Gemma McGinty gaining 2nd female place with a time of 41:50.
Meanwhile Frankie Bradley ran well to secure a place in the top time, earning a time if 38:58.
Other Foyle Valley runners on the day were Lee Carr (39:54), Paul Coyle (39:57), Emmet Harkin (40:24), Sean Molloy (43:11), Charlene Slevin (43:44), Tom Doherty (44:05), Billy Orr (44:42), Orla Moran (45:26), Jim McGuinness (45:29), Trish McClintock (46:19), Sean Harkin (46:30), Deborah McMahon (46:36), Catherine Moran (47:06), John Cartin (48:53) Denise Doherty (49:06), Patricia Mullin (53:43) and Mary Kindlon (55:15). On Saturday Denise Ward travelled to Carrickmore, outside Omagh, for the Carmen 10K. Denise ran the undulating course in a respectable time of 42 minutes, coming in third female behind Sperrin Harriers duo Pauline McGurren (1st) and Natalie Hall (2nd).
In the 3rd race of the Finn Valley 5k Spring Series, Foyle Valley newcomer Johnny Canning continued his impressive form to secure 4th place overall with an excellent time of 17:51, while Seamus Cradden came 10th in the opening race of the Valleys 5k series with a time of 25:24.
And congratulations also to Trish McClintock, who after recently competing in 3 races of the Sperrin Harriers Winter League was confirmed as first place in the female over 35 category.
Please also note that Foyle Valley’s Roly Black will be running the upcoming Omagh Half Marathon to raise funds for the Willow Foundation. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so to Roly in person at training or else via the Foyle Valley online forum.
Training continues as follows: Monday and Wednesday 5:45pm, St Columbs Park; Tuesday and Thursday 5:30pm, Templemore Sports Complex; Saturday morning, Templemore Sports Complex and St Columbs Park. Members are also reminded that club fees are due by 1st April, fees for the year 2015-2016 are £25.
All new members are welcome, please make yourself known to one of the coaches at the above training times.
