Sinn Féin candidate Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the resurfacing of the Glenshane Pass but said that the upgrade of the A6 remains a priority.
Ms. Archibald said, “While I welcome the announcement that a 2km section of the Glenshane Pass is to be resurfaced as it is in bad disrepair the priority remains the upgrade to a dual carriage of the A6.
“The £350,000 resurfacing scheme will greatly improve the roadway alongside the Eden Quarry which has several potholes and therefore improve safety on the major route between Derry and Belfast.
“I would call on the Minister to stop his patchwork approach to this main arterial route and begin the upgrade of this road to dual carriageway status which will benefit the entire North West region.
