Slaughtneil’s fairytale run to the All-Ireland SFC final has ended in heartbreak this afternoon at Croke Park.
Galway side Corofin simply outclassed their Ulster opponents in what was a disappointing and one-sided final.
Mickey Moran’s side in truth never turned up and will be disappointed at how the game panned out.
They trailed by EIGHT points at the interval and it was a damage limitation exercise after that as Slaughtneil battled bravely to get back into the game.
Corofin kept them at arms length in the second-half and increased their lead to TEN points early in the second-half.
Corofin were economical in possession and kicked some lovely points in an impressive display from the new All-Ireland club champions.
After ten minutes the sides were level at two points apiece but a devastating spell when Corofin scored 1-5 without reply done the damage.
Slaughtneil never recovered and while they emptied themselves in a desperate bid to get back into it, it was ultimately all in vain as Corofin ran out comfortable winners.
