GAA: Derry have been knocked out of the Ulster U21 championship after a narrow defeat to Monaghan.
Derry led by a point at half-time but the dismissal of Neil McNicholl just before the interval proved costly for the Oak Leafers.
Derry only scored one more point in the second-half as Monaghan used their advantage to excellent effect.
They were economical in possession and were decisive between the posts and eased into a four-point lead.
Derry battled gamely right to the end in a desperate attempt to get back into the game.
However, there attempts were in vain and Monaghan ran out comfortable winners in the end and booked a semi-final spot against Donegal.
