IT was a symbolic gesture, meant to symbolise the people of Derry burning their past to forge a bright future.
Thousands of people turned out in the Waterside to watch The Temple go up in smoke.
Designed by artist David Best and made by people from the Nerve Centre and all over the city, it almost seemed a shame to see it disappear into the night sky.
But as David said, it was all about getting rid of the past, putting it on a bonfire and moving on.
It was an emotional and stunning moment for our city.
Time to move on…..
