Detectives at Strand Road are appealing for information about an assault on a man in the Waterside.
Shortly before 8pm last night two masked men forced open the door of a house at Moore Street and assaulted a 23-year-old man.
He did not need hospital treatment.
Inspector Jonny Hunter said the men gave the appearance of being armed, although no weapon was seen.
“No motivation for the attack was mentioned. It is believed the men left in a vehicle afterwards,” he said.
Local people say the man was left badly shaken.
“It was terrifying because the gang said they were armed and he (the victim) thought he was going to be shot,” said one friend.
It is the latest in a series of violent assaults in the city in the past 10 days.
The number to call with any information is 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
