UP TO 50 new jobs are on their way to Derry with the opening of a new city hotel next year.
Derry Daily has learned that discussions are at an advanced stage for the hotel on the site of the Strand Bar/Flamin’ Jacks site.
The Duddy Group closed the premises last week after a sale deal went through.
It’s understood the Holiday Inn Group and a number of other hotel groups have expressed an interest in opening at the site after its sale for £485,000.
Brendan Duddy Jnr says he hopes an announcement can be made in the near future.
It’s also understood the company is trying to re-locate staff affected by the closure of the bar and restaurant.
The redevelopment of the site is expected to cost close to £10M.
If construction goes ahead later this summer, the hotel could be completed by this time next year.
