Derry City star Patrick McEleney has agreed with Shamrock Rovers manager Pat Fenlon’s damning assessment on the playing surface at The Brandywell following the scoreless draw between the sides on Friday night.
Fenlon, not for the first time this season has been critical of the playing surfaces in the Airtricity League and again was scathing in his opinions on the pitch at Derry following Friday’s game.
However, he has been backed up by Derry playmaker Patrick McEleney who said the surface at The Brandywell is not good enough.
McEleney comments could land him in hot water with management staff at the club as his comments are highly critical.
McEleney told The Herald, “I can only try my best to create chances. I’m trying to make things happen and I’m working hard for the team.
“But it’s hard on that pitch because that’s probably the worst pitch in the league.
“It’s an absolute shambles to be honest and it’s not helping anybody. But that’s really out of our control.”
