CITY HELD BY BRAY WANDERERS AS CAPTAIN SEES RED

Captain: Ryan McBride was sent off

DERRY City’s season is turning out to be as bumpy as the pitch at the Brandywell after Candystripes were held in a dour 0-0 affair.

It was the fifth scoreless game in eight outings for City and Friday night saw another drought of chances.

Captain Ryan McBride will also miss the trip to Limerick on Monday after being shown a red card for a foul on Bray’s Chris Lyons.

Aaron Barry missed a sitter eight minutes into the second half and had that gone in, it could have seen a much better half.

But Bray were also struggling to create goal chances and when they did have one, it took a stunning save from Gerard Doherty in the city goal to prevent Adam Hanlon’s fine effort ending up in the back of the net.

Cillian Morrison had a glorious chance for city in the 64th minute but one-on-one with the keeper, he fluffed his lines..

And when City’s Ryan Curran was denied a clear penalty in the dying embers of the game, everyone at the Brandywell knew it just wasn’t going to be Derry’s night.
