SDLP Pat Ramsey MLA:

SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey has been involved in a row on Twitter today over remarks apparently encouraging people to throw eggs at his party’s supporters.

The Mark Durkan election campaign is canvassing in the Top of the Hill today.

But Mr Ramsey took exception to a tweet which said: “Pat Ramsey and the stoops are out canvassing today in top of the hill. Must get the rotten eggs ready to welcome them to my door”.

Mr Ramsey tweeted: “The brave Shinners at their intimidation and bullying tactics.”

However the person using the account laughed off his tweet as a joke and responded to the SDLP man: “ha ha pat, these rotten eggs can be life threatening.”

Another person also tweeted asking if Mr Ramsey was “honestly threatened” by an egg.

The MLA was taking it seriously however and responded: “Bullyboys back to what you know best.”
