POLICE are jubilant after officers took over £3000 worth of illegal drugs off the streets of Derry this week.
The drugs, including suspected cocaine and LSD, were found during a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in the Ardgrange area on Wednesday, April 29.
However, the PSNI have only just released details.
Constable Stephen Greene said: “The seizure of these drugs demonstrates our ongoing commitment to removing dangerous substances from our City’s streets.
“Both Class A and prescription drugs like diazepam, which is Class C, were found during this proactive search. I cannot emphasise enough how dangerous it is to take illegal substances or any medication that has not been specifically prescribed to you.
“Drugs destroy lives and communities and we will continue to work to identify those involved in the drugs trade locally and shut down their activities.
“Anyone with information that could support our efforts can call 101 or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”
