Cllr Angela Dobbins has welcomed the beginning of the development of social houses in the Skeoge area of Ballyarnett.
Cllr Dobbins said there is a significant rise in the need for social housing in the Ballyarnett area and indeed throughout Derry with many people in housing stress.
“This development is not a solution but will be a step in the right direction to tackle the social housing shortage which exists in our city. Both Apex and Foyle Fold Housing Associations are renowned for their quality and design of family homes and I am delighted that these homes will be expected to be allocated by next year.
“I am grateful that both the developers and the planning dept have acknowledged the need for single storey housing and have incorporated apartments and bungalows in their planned developments.”
