A SECURITY alert is underway this morning and British Army bomb disposal experts have been sent to the scene in Strabane.
It follows a report that an object was thrown into a car at Innisfree Gardens in the town.
The incident was reported to police at about 8.15 am.
A number of houses have been evacuated and residents have been moved to safety while the object is examined.
The alert come a day after a 48-year-old man was released unconditionally by police investigating violent dissident republican activity in Strabane.
He was arrested yesterday morning in the Ballycolman estate and taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for quetioning.
