A 17-year-old youth has been arrested after cars were searched through in the Galliagh area of Derry early on Tuesday. 
At about 4.30am, police were called to Sandale Park by residents reporting suspicious activity.
Chief Inspector Alan Hutton said one youth was arrested at the scene and a second made off towards Collon Lane.
Four cars were entered and a number of items were stolen from them.
The youth was detained on suspicion of theft and drugs charges and later released pending further enquiries.
