DETECTIVES are hunting a gang who stole lead worth thousands of pounds from a Derry hospital.
Police say the Gransha hospital site was targeted twice over the past week and lead with a value of £18,000 was taken.
The PSNI said given the amount of lead stolen detectives believe it would have “necessitated the use of a vehicle”.
Officers have launched an investigation into the incidents and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity at the old site between Tuesday and Friday has been asked to get in touch.
A spokesperson for the Western Health and Social Care Trust said: “This incident have been reported to the PSNI.
“The trust would appreciate the public’s cooperation with the police in relation to this incident and would ask that any suspicious activity on hospital sites be reported to the PSNI.
“Such thefts have an adverse impact on the trust’s resources and money needed to replace stolen goods could be better spent on much needed facilities and services.”
