POLICE arrested a 22 year-old man this week on drug offences in Co Derry.
He was detained on Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply and a range of motoring offences.
The PSNI say the arrest was made after a car failed to stop for police in the Derramore area of Magherafelt just before 1.35 pm.
The driver dumped the car and then made off on foot with police in pursuit.
He was stopped and arrested about ten minutes later under the 1989 Road Traffic Order.
Following a search, officers recovered suspected herbal cannabis with a £5,000 street value.
The suspect was re-arrested this time under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act for Class B offences.
After several hours of questioning, the man was released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Constable Lindsay Cunningham said: “I would ask anyone who witnessed the car or the man in the area to contact Magherafelt Police Station on the non emergency number 101.
