A CO Derry man is one of two suspects from the North who will appear in court today in Scotland on drug charges.
They were stopped at a ferry terminal last week and suspected heroin was seized.
The pair, a 41-year-old from Magherafelt and a 30-year-old from Cookstown, were arrested at Cairnryan on Thursday.
They have been charged with possession of a class A drug with intent to supply and are due in court in Scotland next week.
Police Scotland and the PSNI have been liaising over the incident and searches have now been carried out in Magherafelt and Cookstown.
Detective Inspector Tom McClure from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch said: “We are grateful to our colleagues in Police Scotland for making these arrests.
“The PSNI is committed to policing the threat posed by drugs in Northern Ireland and will continue to work with our colleagues in both Police Scotland and elsewhere in relation to detecting those involved in the illegal supply of drugs.”
The two men will appear at Stranraer Sheriff Court this morning.
