Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £200,000 major resurfacing scheme for the Northland Road in Derry.
The work will take place from the Northland Road’s junction with Crawford Square to, and including, the junction of Rock Road, a distance of 580metres.
Work will start on Monday 27 July 2015 at 8am and will continue between 8am and 6pm each day until Saturday 29 August 2015.
To facilitate the drainage, kerbing and footway work in a safe manner to both residents and the contractor’s workforce the road will be closed to city bound traffic during these times. A signed diversion route will be in place. The road will be closed to facilitate the resurfacing of the carriageway. This will occur towards the end of the above period.
To minimise disruption to road users and businesses on a major arterial route through the city, the work will be carried out during July and August when traffic is lighter.
The Minister said: “This scheme will greatly improve the safety, strength and surface quality of the carriageway of this important route.”
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and TransportNI will keep the public informed of any change.
TransportNI has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public. However, motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
