DERRY detectives are investigating a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in Derry late on Friday night.
The 17-year-old victim was in the park around midnight on Friday when she was approached by a man and assaulted.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The attack has struck fear into the community and regular users of the popular park
The attacker is believed to be in his 30s.
Detective Inspector Lynne Knox said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of this incident to contact Police on the non-emergency number 101.
“Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information anonymously, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them on 0800 555 111.”
