A PUBLIC protest today over attacks on a locally-owned fast food business is designed to show how it affects staff, its owner has said.
Paul McShane was responding to attacks which have seen seven of his pizza delivery vans destroyed.
Mr McShane, owner of Paulo’s Pizza, said he and his staff have had enough.
He said people didn’t realise the affect not just on his business but on the staff when they are assaulted or attacked. In recent years, seven vans belonging to the company have been hijacked or attacked in the city.
Politicians joined today’s protest.
SDLP Councillor Martin Reilly has attended today’s public protest at Free Derry Corner against attacks on vans owned by Paolo’s Pizzas.
Speaking after attending today’s public protest, Cllr Reilly said: “I strongly condemn any attack on vans belonging to Paolo’s Pizzas.
“It is important that Paul McShane and his staff know that the whole community stands behind them, and they have the support and solidarity of us all.
“Those responsible for these attacks have nothing to offer – and come from people who are simply proving that they can damage and destroy.
“Business people in Derry simply want to prosper and grow – and that is why we must strongly reject any such attack which would hold them back.”
