POLICE are investigating an arson incident at the Model Primary School on Derry’s Northland Road.
It happened on July 30 around 9.30 pm but details have only been released this afternoon.
Inspector Colin Monteith said: “During this incident, playground furniture was completely destroyed. The estimated value to replace is £3,000. It is believed the fire started in a litter bin and then spread onto a picnic area.
“A check of CCTV shows four young males playing football within the grounds of the school a short time prior to fire service discovering the blaze. They would all appear to be teenagers.
“Police would be keen to identify these males. Anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious around the school on 30th July should contact police at Strand Road PSNI station the non-emergency number, 101, or by calling the Crimestoppers Charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
