DANIEL O’Donnell has signed up for the BBC’s hugely successful ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ television show.
The Donegal singer will join other celebrities including pop star Peter Andre, celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and Eastenders star Kellie Bright in the dance-offs.
The series, now in its 11th season, begins on September 7th next.
Daniel, who is on a break from touring for 2015, said he was really looking forward to taking part in the show.
“I’m very nervous but I’m really looking forward to it. It’ll be a different kind of hard work but I think I’ll enjoy it,” h said.
However the star said that while he has danced a lot, his timing would not be the best.
“Just don’t ask me to be in a certain place at a certain time. This is going to be very challenging. I’ll be very hard to tie down. God help whoever gets me,” he laughed.
Daniel said he was also looking forward to meting his fellow celebrities as h was a big fan of such shows as Eastenders and Coronation Street.
“I would never have got to met the people only for the show so I am rally looking forward to it,” he added.
He revealed he had ben ask to take part in some of the show’s Christmas Specials in the past but never had the time.
He also said he was looking forward to wearing the costumes but added “I hope they don’t ask me to open my shirt as I only have a one pack.”
Daniel’s wife Majella took part in last year’s show and it is understood that she encouraged the singer to give the show a try this year.
The singer is already a household name in Britain but his appearance the show promises to make him even more popular.
He has just finished filming a series for UTV visiting Bed and Breakfasts around Ireland.
