Mayor Elisha McCallion urges people to vote Derry in People’s Choice awards

DERRY has been shortlisted for the prestigious People’s Choice Awards and the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Elisha McCallion is encouraging the public to get behind the campaign and vote for the city.

The People’s Choice Awards recognises cities across the world, that have used light to enhance their urban space and have successfully improved the look and feel of their city by improving its accessibility and liveability.

The Mayor says she is delighted the city has made it to the finals of the awards and is encouraging the public to take part in the public vote online and help secure this prestigious accolade for the city.

“The work that has been done over the past number of years to illuminate our city through a series of projects including the Public Realm and Walled City Lighting Project have made a real impact in enhancing our city’s offering.

“The investment in lighting has successfully contributed to the positive impact on the physical look and improved the look and feel of our streetscaoes and skylines as well as our heritage buildings,” she says.

The closing date for the public vote stage is 03 September. To register your vote click on the following link –http://www.peoplechoiceaward.eu/
