HOMES have been searched have been carried in the Strabane area out by detectives investigating dissident activity
It is understood properties were searched in the Townsend Street area of the town.
Strabane police boss Superintendent Mark McEwan said: “I would ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activity to local police immediately”.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit (TIU) recently recovered an assault rifle during searches earlier this month.
Days earlier a mortar bomb was made safe after it was left in a local cemetery by dissident republicans.
Police believe the intended target was a passing police patrol.
