POLICE have hit a Derry drugs gang where it hurts – in the pockets.
The PSNI say officers seized a quantity of drugs following a number of planned searches were carried out in the city yesterday, Tuesday, August 25.
Four houses were raided at Mountjoy Street, Merriman Court, Holymount Park and Ferndale under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
An area of open ground was also searched.
A small amounts of drugs and other ancillary items were seized.
Four people were arrested and interviewed about possession of drugs with intent to supply and possession of drugs.
All four have been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
Local policing boss Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan said the searches were part of pro-active operations to tackle illegal drug issues.
