DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after a man was shot and injured in an attack at a bar and restaurant in Derry.
Police believe the man was attending a wedding party hosted by members of the travelling community at The Venue on Northland Road when the attack happened last night.
One line of enquiry is that the man was the victim of an internal dispute between rival traveler families.
The victim was rushed by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
However, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Detectives from Strand Road PSNI station are at the cordoned off scene.
Crime scene investigators have been drafted in from Maydown for carry out a forensic examination of the area around where the man was shot for clues.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact detectives at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number.
