GARDAI in Donegal are questioning a man after a shooting incident at a traveller wedding in Derry last night.
The man was stopped shortly after crossing the border into Donegal driving a grey coloured Passat not long after the shooting and he was arrested.
The PSNI had issued a description of the vehicle to Gardai along the border.
The man is currently in custody.
The gun attack happened in the car park of licensed premises on Derry’s Northland Road.
The PSNI say a man in his 30’s suffered an injury to his hand at around 8.30pm after a firearm was discharged following a function at The Venue premises.
It is believed a shotgun was used in the attack.
Locals say a traveller’s wedding was taking place and detectives believe the shooting was as a result of an internal dispute.
The man was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment and discharged a short time later.
PSNI Inspector Tony Moore said: “Detectives are following a definite line of enquiry and are appealing for anyone who noticed a grey coloured Volkswagon Passat in the Northland Road area at the time of the incident to contact Strand Road 101.”
