DETECTIVES believe stolen oil drums are suspected to have been used to start a deliberate car fire in Derry.
The fire was extinguished by crews from the NIFRS.
Fire crews were called out on a 999 call to fire at Ferndale Close area of the city at around 4.55 am this morning, Thursday, August 10.
The Fire Service alerted the PSNI to the incident.
Police enquiries revealed four drums of heating oil were stolen from a nearby shop at around the same time and the oil is thought to have been used to start the fire.
Police added that the car was not in full running order and may have been pushed from where it was originally parked.
