A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of shining a laser light at a police helicopter in Derry last night.
The incident happened in the Rathlin Drive area of the Creggan estate.
The PSNI helicopter had been above the city supporting police on the ground following reports of “suspicious activty”
Earlier, the copter had been used in the Galliagh area following similar reports.
Derry police chief superintendent Mark McEwan said: “The arrest was made on suspicion of endangering the safety of an aircraft.
“The police helicopter was above the city in support of officers responding to reports of suspicious activity on the ground.
“The seventeen year old boy was spoken to in the presence of his parents.”
