A MAN was treated in Altnagelvin Hospital yesterday evening following a cooker fire in his Derry home.
The Fires Service say crews from Crescent Link station received a 999 call alerting them to a fire at an end-terraced house at Alexander Terrace in the Waterside area of the city.
A spokesman said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel jet to deal with the cooker fire.
“A 26-year-old man received oxygen therapy for mild smoke inhalation and was treated for burns to hand at the scene from FRS.
“The cause of the fire appeared accidental.
“A smoke alarm was activated by the fire.
“Fire crews from Crescent Link station attended the incident.”
