THE Fire Service say a detached house at Fincairn Road in Derry’s Drumahoe district was extensively damaged at the weekend.
The fire broke out in the roofspace of the building on Saturday.
An NIFRS spokesman said: “The initial appliances attending requested further resources to attend to deal with the blaze.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two main jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.”
It is the second roofspace blaze firefighters had to deal with in Derry in a number of days.
A similar type fire broke out in the roofspace of a property at Parkmore Drive in Strathfoyle.
The blaze was so intense crews requested extra resources to attend to deal with the incident.
A covering jet, two main jets and a hosereel jet were deployed and an aerial appliance was also used as several roofspaces were involved.
