A DERRY doctor has announced she will run as an independent candidate in the forthcoming Stormont elections.
GP Anne McCloskey said she was preparing her campaign if the election happened in the next few weeks if the Assembly collapses or if it takes place next May 2016 as planned.
Mrs McCloskey revealed her plans on Monday night at the Maldron Hotel under the banner of ‘October 5: From Civil Rights to Stormont Cuts – What is to be done?’.
Last night’s date was not lost on those who attended.
For 47 years ago in 1968 the RUC attacked a civil rights demonstration in Derry.
