A DERRY Sinn Fein councillor has condemned those who left a bomb at a hotel on Friday causing major disruption to the public.
The Waterfoot Hotel in the Waterside had to be evacuated during the alert.
At first police said the device was an elaborate hoax.
But on Saturday, ACC Mark Hamilton said that on further examination the object was found to be a “viable improvised explosive device”.
Cllr Jackson said: “These security alerts are unacceptable.
“These actions will achieve nothing but cause great inconvenience to the local communities and businesses.
“Those behind these incidents need to come forward and supply a spokesperson to explain these actions. To date they have failed to do so as they are wrapped up in their own destructive agenda.
“These actions serve no republican agenda, of that I am certain.
“It is high time they stop these activities and catch up with the rest of society,” he added.
