ÓGRA Shinn Féin is to host a solidarity rally for the people of Gaza and Palestine tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 13, at 7.00pm at Free Derry Wall.
Sinn Féin Councillor Colly Kelly said: “Ógra Shinn Féin are asking people from Derry, Donegal and Tyrone to gather with us on Wednesday night at 7.00pm at Free Derry Wall in order to send our solidarity to the people of Gaza and Palestine and to also show our anger and opposition to the continued injustices and slaughter that the Israelis are carrying out on the Palestinian people.
“The footage of whole neighbourhoods decimated, homes, schools, hospitals all gone is stark. Almost half of this besieged region is now under the control of the Israeli military.
“As well as facing direct violence, young people in Palestine also have their education and opportunities severely limited as a result of the recent Israeli onslaught and occupation.
“In Gaza in particular, children and young people are growing up in what is essentially an open-air prison.
“We would encourage as many people as possible to attend so that we can send a very clear message from the North West of Ireland that what is happening to the people of Gaza must stop.
“In the age of online news and social media every vigil, rally, protest large or small all plays a part in getting the message out of solidarity with the people of Palestine.”
