FASHIONISTAS will be delighted at the announcement that top Irish designer Helen Cody will be showcasing some of her work and offering some top tips to local designers during this year’s Fashion Fest, taking place November 12th – 14th.
Helen will be bringing some select pieces from her collection to Derry for the spectacular Gala Fashion Show taking place on Saturday 14th November in St Columb’s Hall.
Business Opportunities Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Louise Breslin, said she was delighted to have a designer of such calibre leading off the showcase.
“Helen Cody is such a huge figure in Irish fashion, and we’re thrilled that she is supporting our event this year. Helen is a real inspiration to emerging talent and I know that local designers and fashion lovers will be queuing up to see some of her latest work.
“Her designs are popular all over the world, and Helen is a fantastic ambassador for Irish Fashion so I’m looking forward to getting some feedback from her about the local industry and our own fashion showcase.”
With three decades of experience working for premier fashion publications in New York, London and Paris, including Vogue, Helen Cody has taken her work from behind the scenes to the catwalk, establishing her own top fashion label which has already become a celebrity favourite.
Her creations have graced the red carpets of Cannes, the Tony Awards and even the Oscars, and are a favourite among top Irish celebrities.
As well as launching her unique bridal collection in spring 2014, Helen showcased her work for a season in Ireland’s top department store Brown Thomas as part of the CREATE initiative. And the plaudits don’t stop there.
Just this year Helen was selected for the DCCOI Critical selection Portfolio Project, the first fashion designer to be included with 22 of Ireland’s top creator makers.
