POLICE are investigating incidents of suspicious activity in the Glenside and Grangewood areas off the Derry Road in Strabane this week.
Thieves have using the daylight hours to case homes before returning under the cover of darkness to strike.
A spokesman said: “At Grangewood on Tuesday and Wednesday, there were reports of unknown males trying the doors of houses and looking around gardens.
“At Glenside on Wednesday night, an attempt was made to break into a house through a window.
“Two would-be intruders made off when they realised a resident was at home.
“We are asking residents to look out for suspicious activity at night and for strangers in the area during the day who may possibly be assessing targets.”
The simple advice from police is keep all windows and locked to stop burglars gaining easy access to homes.
