MAN INJURED IN DERRY KNIFE ATTACK

strand-road-police-station-derry-google-1-1-400x240-20131121-132010-438-1DETECTIVES in Derry are investigating an assault in the Galliagh area of Derry on Friday night.

The PSNI say that at around 11.05 pm two men were spotted in the back yard of a house in Slievemore Park.

A man who was in the house at the time went outside to investigated.

He told police that one of the men lunged at him with a suspected knife.

The victim was able to fend off his attackers who then fled the scene on foot.

The man sustained minor injuries.

The officer investigating the incident, Detective Inspector Alan Pyper has appealed anyone who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who has any information about this incident to contact police at Strand Road on the 101 non-emergency number.

Added DI Pyper: “Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
