Dissident republicans picTHE shadowy dissident republican group Óglaigh na h’Éireann (ONH) has said it left a bomb outside Drumsurn village five weeks ago.

It is believed it was planted in a bid to kill military personnel while on “training manoeuvres” in the area.

Since Wednesday afternoon,  the Legavallon Road has been closed after police received an anonymous telephone claim that a bomb had been left in the area.

Police say they are carrying out searches of the area however nothing has been found so far.

Overnight, the PSNI evacuated a number of families from their homes for some time as a precaution.

This evening Oglaigh na hEireann (ONH) issued a statement claiming responsibility for planting the device.

It claims the device has been left there some five weeks ago.

The shadowy group has not specified what type of device it is that police are trying to locate.
